  | Web Design FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
The following are some answers to some very important questions:
What do I need to experience flash on my computer?
You can already view flash if your internet browser is the most current version.Update your Flash Player to Version 9.0.115If not, Download the latest flash player and browsers:
For optimal display quality change screen resolution to True Color (32 bit): Right click your desktop screen in an empty spot, then click on "properties" in the pop-up menu, then click on "settings" in the "Display-Settings" menu, set your "screen resolution" to 1024 x 768 pixels or higher and your "colors" to True Color (32 bit)
Do I get the editable flash or swish files when I buy a flash site or intro?
As a rule of thumb, we do not sell the editable flash files, though the later is negotiable. Ogdenian can however update a finished file or set of files for a minimum fee. Also, some flash items that are independent files and not part of the main interface may be given to a client to edit themselves in Macromedia Flash MX 8. Ogdenian also creates flash files that grab information, images, and sounds from external folders, hence easy for a non-flash person to update.
How do I install a flash intro or site?
Just upload all files to your website's root directory and make sure you upload the swf files in binary mode. If your web server requires an index.htm or default.htm page as your start page just rename the index.html page to whichever form is required. All of Ogdenian's flash intros load a index2.html page when finished, hence your main site page should be index2.html. If you ever need help installing the files contact Ogdenian.
What about site maintenance?
Most sites need regular maintenance - to check for broken links, to make sure that the code is keeping up with new technology and browsers, to update products and services or other content or feature updates. Ogdenian can maintain your sites for you or we can train you in the technology needed to do the maintenance yourself.
Domain names (i.e. www.ogdenian.com)?
When choosing a domain name make it memorable, optimally a keyword or phrase, easy to say and type.
Once you have a name in mind, Ogdenian.com will check to see if it is available. It must contain no more than 26 letters. It is a good idea to keep your domain name on a different server than the server used for hosting, in case the hosting platform oversells itself and the service quality goes through the floor.
Where will my site live?
If you already have a site hosted with an ISP, you can continue using them if you like. Or, if you have an ISP that you use for email and dial-up access, you can contact them to see what they offer for site hosting options.
Costs and services tend to vary significantly from one company to the next, so this can be a confusing decision to make. Ogdenian works with several ISP's and hosting companies and can help you find the best hosting service for your site and situation.
