Flash Animations
Adobe flash animations was the industry standard for high impact visual excitment and interactivity for a very long time. Currently, flash is not 100% cross device compatible due to issues that Adobe and Apple have with each other. The later means that on some mobile phones, tables, iphones or pads flash is not viewable. With the economy the way it is, I usually tell clients not to build two websites but to just build one without flash using javascript image manipulations instead so that cross device compatibility is not an issue.
Flash is widely used in a multitude of mobile phone apps, tradeshow presentations displayed on monitors, video screen backdrops, and floor videos in clubs, advertisments on smart glass or flat screen tv/monitors, video billboards, etc… So, it is not a dead artform as of yet.
