Footprints in the Snow - Prose Poetry

"Footprints in the Snow"

There...behind a tree,
is a woodland bear,
looking at me.
A thought?
Thrown in my direction!
HEY, DUDE!!!
Have you ever seen the footprints in the snow?

Tracks,
of an unknown nature,
running up and down the arms of the land.
Footprints in the snow!

He wondered just what he could do
to rid the snow of this defacement
of crystalline nature.
Footprints in the snow...Meanwhile,

The earth's core rumbles,
volcanic rock tumbles,
an addict stumbles,
while making
footprints in the snow!

Woodland bear smiled at me,
that I picked myself up,
off the ground,
wiping snow off my tracks,
he said, "I'll take your back,
if you need someone to heed a rap,"
as we brushed out the
footprints in the snow!

I walked away as the woodland bear smiled at me.
I too,
I thought,
as the buds burst on trees long bear,
I too,
AM FREE!!!
