Customizing the Look & Feel of a Blog…

Wahoo More Hits

I installed this blog so that I could mess with the look and feel of it and see if I can bend it to my will. I find that I definitely can modify it any way that I want and that it just takes time to rewrite the codes.

First, I changed the background image to match my site by editing the css file. I also adjusted the css file to match fonts, background colors and spacings. I edited the header file so as to get my flash banner up and running.  I added the footer table replacing the old one from the default blog template. all the while checking to make sure my changes stayed valid XHTML. Just finished testing the search feature and adding an Akismet anti spam plugin. All in all, I am very please with the seemless integration of the blog with my website and the quantity of new daily hits in less than 24 hours.

I am already receiving hits because this blog automatically pings the blog update services. “Update services” are tools that let other people know when the blog is updated. This blog automatically notifies popular update services by sending a XML-RPC ping each time I create or update a post. In turn, update services process the pings and updates their proprietary indices with my update. Now people browsing blog search engines can find my most recent posts!  It can’t get any cooler than that.

Feel free to contact me if you require this service.

In the wildly chaotic world of modern Search Engine Optimization (SEO) one-way links are valuable when pointing to your site. Especially if they are from high Page Ranked, popular and similar genre sites. So, here is a list of Social Bookmarking, Article Submission, Social Networks, Press Releases and Blog Hubs whereas you may create one-way links to your site using unique text laden with keywords in link titles:

Notes:
The keywords in link titles can all be the same text (i.e. “your key words”: your key words.) The text you use as copy has to be unique and not copied from your main site, this way you don’t end up with duplicate content penalty in the search engines.

New Flash FLV Player Module for Video Galleries

Ogden McGahan
May 15th, 2007

12.PNGI just created a new flash video flv player module which loads thumbnail jpg images and video FLV files from external folders. This is a very useful item if you have a lot of videos to portray on a website. The quantity of video flv’s and thunbnail images that can be called up is infinite. I woke up this morning wondering why there isn’t any simple and easy video players on the web, hence template 138 was created.
