How do I tweak my internet connection?

Have you ever wanted more bandwidth from your cable or DSL modem? Then use the Navas Cable Modem/DSL Tuning Guide to increasing your TCP Receive Window. Note: there is no tweak for Windows Vista yet.

How can I protect my personal files from a system failure?

Purchase a USB external hard drive.

Make sure you set your address book, personal files and email folder to be located on the USB external drive.

Make a backup compressed file containing a copy of the prestine system on the external drive. Make sure the compressed backup file validates as a good copy or keep doing it over till it does. You will not be able to use it to refresh the system if it does not pass validation.

This way if you have any operating system problems all you do is run a program from DOS at the system startup and you re-install a completely clean system with all your files intact. If need be, You may have to tell your bios to look for CD's upon startup.

How do I increase my computer's graphic viewing quality?

You should increase your screen resolution to see graphics and images at the best possible setting:

1. Right click on a blank area of your desktop.
2. Select Properties from the menu.
3. Choose the Settings tab from the dialog box that appears.
4. Change your "screen resolution" to 1024x768 or higher.
5. Change your "color quality" to highest 32 bit.

How do I install a Java program?

Windows XP does not come with Java installed since Microsoft ended it's affilitation with Sun Micro Systems. All you have to do is Download Java Software for your desktop computer now

How do keep my computer updated?

It is vital for a smoothly running computer to have all it's drivers and programs current.

1. Microsoft Update Microsoft Update replaced Windows Update it also updates all microsoft products on your computer( I.E. Microsoft Office)
